Part 5 of the 6 half day course ‘AN INTRODUCTION TO ARMENIAN HISTORY, CULTURE & HERITAGE’

Women and the Armenian Church through Centuries – Illustrated talk by Dr David Zakarian who is a Associate Member of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Oxford. He received his DPhil from Oxford in 2015, and between 2017 and 2019 he was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Faculty of Oriental Studies in Oxford working on the colophons of medieval Armenian manuscripts. He is the author of a number of articles and book chapters that explore the representation of women in late antique and medieval Armenian sources, and in January 2021 Brill published his monograph entitled Women, Too, Were Blessed: The Portrayal of Women in Early Christian Armenian Texts.
